Alana is a doctor on a remote Nicaraguan island that is run by Gavin, a horrible criminal. Cristian is a mercenary hired to kill Gavin. Cristian is caught and beaten to try and find out who hired him. He escapes but is shot in the process. He makes his way to the other side of the island where he is found by Alana who takes him in and nurses him back to health. Gavin comes and kidnaps her and Cristian saves her. In Gavin's rage to find Alana, he kills everyone in the village where Alana lives, including her dad. Before her dad dies, he makes Cristian promise to keep her safe. With Gavin still after her, Cristian calls a few of his friends to help keep her safe and kill Gavin before he can get Alana back. There's a lot more details that happen, this is just a brief look at the first half of the book.
Cristian is a moody, sexy, mercenary. He doesn't get attached to anyone for fear of them getting hurt or himself. So he's not sure what to do with the emotions he feels toward the Alana, his red-haired beautiful doctor. He's not always nice, but you know it's because he's trying to keep her safe. Alana was stubborn but her character is likeable enough. The book just moves really slowly at first but gets better once the action starts. I was pulling for these two the whole time. Really liked the guys who work with Cristian too. Could possibly see stories for each of them in the future.
Book is told in both Alana and Cristian's POVs.

This book is packed with action, suspense and romance with a happy ending. It's everything you want in one book.
It was a good read, not the best, but ok. It was the kind of book that you could predict what was to happen before it happened, not crazy about those but over all I would say the plot,characters and writing was good.
Alana has made a deal with the devil, to save her family on a small island. Gavin Ross is a criminal and he wants Alana.Slade is mercenary hired to kill him. Interesting plot.
This is a must read. Action romance you get sucked in from the first chapter.and don't come up til the last page
This was the first book I read of hers. She never disappoint. I love the way she presents her characters.

This book made me cry, cheer, and yell. It had so much emotion. The hero was a strong alpha with emotional issues that you couldn't help but love. The heroine also had so much strength against so much trauma. I totally connected with both characters. The secondary characters were wonderful too. Hope they all get stories too. Definitely worth the read, I devoured it.
Dear Mrs. Lowery, this was a good book for your debut, but not as good as it could have been. Loved the H and HR. Loved the cover, loved the premise, loved the villian. Love story was good if not deeply emotional enough. Too much skipped sex scenes that should have grown into love scenes.
And finally I would say you need better research or advice from a real security professional. Although all the mercenaries in this book sound hunky, and brave, you reduced them to bumbling incompetants. That's where I totally dropped a star from my review. EXAMPLES They change her clothes to conceal her identity as they leave a hotel in NICARAGUA, but oops NO ONE says let's cover her really, long really RED hair??? Gavin's "set-up" in an abandoned warehouse, REALLY? Like the villian could not see that coming a mile away? When they are detoured into an ALLEY? Ambush anyone who knows anything about security???
So good first debut, but please do a little more research next time. Not sure if I will read her second in this series. Not sure if author has reached her potential yet. But I like anyone who endevours to entertain her readers with a good Romantic Suspense, so I say, YAY!! Go Mrs. Lowery make the next one even better. I do believe you have the talent, you may just not have refined it yet.
I enjoyed this and will try other of her books. I understood Cristian and liked Alana even though her whining got on my nerves. Also she in her own mind knew what to do in all situations making the professional guys bend to her will. Mercenaries don't survive if they don't go by their training. I guess I just thought there was too much space taken up saying the same things by these two characters. Ms. Lowery did do an excellent job with the plot and made her characters likeable. This author has promise and I believe she will develop into an excellent author of this genre.
